my story
I was born in Wilmington, Delaware, but moved around a lot as a kid.
During high school and even when I went off to college, I honestly had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up. When it came time to declare a major at my small liberal arts college, I chose journalism - mostly because I was encouraged to pursue it by teachers and professors. But I didn’t enjoy those classes like I thought I would.
Somewhere along the way, I felt the urge to follow in my dad’s footsteps instead. I switched to a business major, and found myself very interested in marketing. I love learning people’s stories, where they come from and why they behave the way they do. Marketing also allowed me to use my passion for writing in a more creative way.
I ended up with a BS and an MBA in marketing, and spent my career honing my writing skills in various marketing positions before starting The Write Shop.
In my spare time, I enjoy exploring with my husband, reading, painting and working on my first novel. We try to visit the beach as much as possible - our favorite spot is Amelia Island, Florida but we are always up for a West-Coast adventure! We currently live in Atlanta with our two cats and one very spoiled Pomeranian.
